Welcome to the Marple Newtown Amateur Radio Club
Weather and Information Net
The Marple Newtown Amateur Radio Club conducts a weather and information net every morning starting at 8:30 AM.
Our Weather and Information Net has been on the air for over thirty years, virtually since the beginning of the club itself! Bill Richards (W3FTZ), now a silent key, was the Net's founder and the club's unofficial meteorologist.
The net takes place every day of the year unless a control operator is not available. For information on repeater frequency please refer to "Repeaters" in the menu above.
No experience is necessary to join the net and control operators are friendly and welcome new operators into the fold. The net is fun and and the operator controls the show. Most operators use an available script, and modify it as they wish. Don’t be shy, give it a try. If you want to try and need guidance, no problem, there is always somebody there to help. Contact KB3SUS , Mike Thomas, via email.
The club is recognized by the National Weather Service as a Weather-Ready Nation (WRN) Ambassador. What is a WRN Ambassador?
The National Weather Service Tells us that it is
"an initiative of the U.S. Department of Commerce,
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
(NOAA), to strengthen partnerships with external
organizations towardbuilding community resilience
in the face of increasing vulnerability to extreme weather and water events."
The current net control operators are:
Weather for Newtown Square, PA 19073
